* If appointment is in the am, you can feed hay and grain the previous am

but if there is any food left over by 12 pm then please remove it. The horse

must be stalled for 24 hours with water only. If the horse is known for eating

the bedding, the bedding must be removed.

* If appointment is in the pm, you can feed their normal dinner but all food left

over by 10 pm must be removed. The horse must be stalled for 24 hours with

water only. If the horse is known for eating the bedding then it must be removed.

***A bite of grass or treat will result in inability to see the stomach correctly***

    Remember when you get off the trailer don't let the horse graze!

 

 

Ulcer severity scoring for grades 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4
Grade 0 - Stomach lining is intact, and there is no appearance of reddening Grade 0 - Stomach lining is intact, and there is no appearance of reddening Grade 1 - The mucosa is intact but there are areas of hyperaemia Grade 1 - Stomach lining is intact but there are areas of reddening
Grade 2 - Stomach has small single or multiple ulcers Grade 2 - Stomach has small single or multiple ulcers Grade 3 - Stomach has large single or multiple ulcers Grade 3 - Stomach has large single or multiple ulcers
Grade 4 - Stomach has extensive ulceration; often merge to give areas of deep ulceration Grade 4 - Stomach has extensive ulcers; often merge to give areas of deep ulceration
