        Contents for your first aid kit in the Barn

       Place all these items in a plastic see through container with a secure lid and place in a safe and dry environment.

                * Stethoscope

                * Thermometer

                * Scissors

                * Large towel to use as a turnicate in case of excessive bleeding

                * Antibacterial soap (ie) Nolvacin

                * Betadine solution (ie) Povidone-iodine which can be purchased at the drug store. Dilute in water

                 until it is the color of weak ice tea and use for flushing wounds.

                * Triple antibiotic ointment (ie) Neosporin purchased from the drug store or Furacin

                * Triple antibiotic ointment made specifically for eye injury

                * Bandage material which includes: Vet rap, gauze, telfa pads, rolled cotton, duck-tape, also

                 diapers as they are a good source for bandaging a foot.

                * Twitch

                *Flashlight

                * Wire cutters

                * Hoof Pick

                * Electrolytes

                * Latex gloves

    Optional: Banamine paste and acepromazine. If you only have injectable banamine, it is safer to give the same amount in the mouth as you would give in the muscle.
